Narrative

Walter left Somerville High School and went into the Navy during WWII. Upon leaving the Navy he moved to Morristown. NY and went to Agricultural College and lived in Pennsylvania. He moved to Newark, Delaware and left the canning business to go into auto sales. After a short time he was manager of Courtesy Ford in Wilmington Delaware where he lived as of 1972. He was very interested in Ireland and visited that country many times. He spent a great deal of time with is wife and family and gave a great deal of himself to all those whom he cared for. He was known as the Irish Godfather. June 1975 he had a heart attack. Match 15, 1985 he became the oldest person ( 60 years old ) to undergo heart transplant surgery at the Presbyterian-University of Pittsburgh Hospital. his original heart was also beating inside hof him
